Living in the center of Madrid, in neighborhoods such as Salamanca, Chamberí or the Center of the capital was only possible, at least for the vast majority of citizens, thanks to the lease, since access to a property has been reserved and still, for the poorest pockets.
The rent was, then, the only way thanks to which hundreds of citizens could realize their dream of living in the best neighborhoods of the capital. However, after the sharp increase in prices experienced by this market, in full bullish boom for four years, that dream has jumped into a thousand pieces and has been shattered, forcing hundreds of citizens to pack their bags in search of a house that, as with the property, can afford to pay.
The 1,000 euros that until just four years ago was paid on average for a floor of 80 square meters in any of these three districts have been transformed into 1,500 euros, in the best of cases, as shown in the table below.
